When you go into the cigar business and you climb to the top, it’s almost guaranteed that your family will eventually be coming to join you. For Rocky Patel, both his little brother Nish Patel and cousin Nimish Desai (aka “Nimmy D”) have come aboard, heading up sales and production, and playing a big part in the brand’s continued success. Clearly, they also have the blending itch, as they’ve both released cigars of their own.
Bold by Nish Patel wasn’t created lightly – Nish took years to put together the right blend. What he ultimately approved is a cigar with a nice dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a double binder of Connecticut Broadleaf and Mexican San Andrés tobaccos, and then a Nicaraguan filler blend from Jalapa and Estelí. If you’re a fan of those leaves, you already expect the Broadleaf to bring tons of chocolatey flavor and the San Andrés leaf to punch in with some serious spice. That’s exactly what you get, just in reverse order.
When you light up, you get a nice kick of spice, with Nish says is to really wake up the palate. He likens it to getting woken up by a slap to the face. After that, the flavor profile develops into rich dark chocolate and roasted espresso as Broadleaf takes control. Continuing along through the whole smoking experience, you’ll notice that the cigar mellows out and settles into a rich set of flavors to take you all the way home. It’s a strong, sensual experience that will have fans of dark flavors fully satisfied.
