Rocky Patel isn’t the third or fourth or even second generation of a cigar family. He’s the first generation, but you probably couldn’t tell while smoking one of his quality cigars. This is due to a few reasons: his deep respect for producing cigars using traditional methods and his ability to recreate these techniques in many of his lines.
You could say that Rocky Patel never sought his way into the cigar industry, though it indeed sought him. In the early 1990s, cigars were just a hobby to then Hollywood attorney Rocky Patel. Many of his clients were big cigar guys, many of them well-known actors, and they’d often gift him premiums or smoke cigars together on set between takes.
In addition to this continuous flow of smoke, his girlfriend at the time was an enthusiast, and before he knew it, Rocky was into the good smoke in a big way. He joined the Grand Havana Club in Los Angeles and became a regular. Before long, a friend presented him with a business plan to produce cigars. Of course, a significant number of things happened between then and now, but we’re burning daylight here, so let’s jump back into the cigars at hand.
Rocky Patel Sixty cigars give smokers a chance to light up and celebrate Rocky’s 60th birthday in style. The look of these birthday sticks is impressive, to say the least. Each wears three separate bands. The upper band is a gorgeous rendering of the Rocky Patel logo. The middle band, which covers a good deal of the cigar, is a stylish black and white photo of a Nicaraguan tobacco field. The lower band boasts the number 60 is gold against a navy blue background.
Inside the cigar box, a description speaks to the quality coming with age and how Rocky’s passion for premiums is more refined than ever. A great line toward the end of this description reads, “the Sixty by Rocky Patel is a reminder that when it comes to passion – age is just a number.” Fantastic stuff.
These aged Nicaragua puros dressed in a Mexican San Andrés wrapper are a sight to behold. According to Patel, they made 145 blends before deciding on the perfect one. He goes on to state they used “some of our rarest, oldest tobaccos.” Patel also says the cigar has “a lot of notes of caramel and coffee and leather and espresso.”
Rocky Patel Sixty cigars age an additional two years post rolling. Here’s to wishing a happy birthday to Mr. Patel. Thank you for the decades of quality smoke and for those yet to come!
Please enjoy Rocky Patel Sixty cigars at your leisure.
