Okay, if you came here looking for New World Order and Illuminati information relating to the Rothschild banking family, you took a wrong turn somewhere. Wikipedia is that way. Now, for those of you who are interested in small format Rothschild Cigars, you’re in the right place. Welcome! Somehow you managed to spell a word that’s just impossible to type out correctly without the help of computers and auto-correction.
A Rothschild cigar is typically an inch shorter than a Robusto. This means that they often measure around 4.5 inches long, but carry a similar ring gauge of 50. Interestingly enough, a little research tells us that it was London financier Leopold de Rothschild that first requested that Hoyo de Monterrey roll up a shorter cigar with a healthy ring gauge. That way, he could get nice lush draws from his cigar but could complete his smoking in a reasonable amount of time. To us, the Rothschild cigar is one of the quintessential half-hour smokes. It’s compact and manageable but still gives you a good satisfying smoking experience.
Any smaller and we’re headed into petite cigars territory, and then on to cigarillos.
Some of our favorite examples of Rothschild Cigars today are actually referred to as “petite,” in fact. The My Father La Opulencia Box Press Petite is a great choice for a Rothschild cigar, as is the Punch Rare Corojo Rothschild, the AJ Fernandez Last Call Maduro Corticas, and the Rocky Patel 20th Anniversary Rothschild.
Now, if you were looking for a strong statement on manhood, you might go for a huge, fat cigar with monster length and a big ring gauge. But the truth is, that will only make people think you’re compensating. The real test of manhood is whether you can bust out a smaller cigar like a Rothschild without feeling like you have to explain yourself. (And of course, if your main focus when choosing a cigar is whether or not you’re going to look tough or manly, you probably already should be spending your time doing something else to address the issue.) A cigar or a glass of scotch isn’t manhood tests – they’re glorious pleasures and should be enjoyed accordingly.
How the hell did we get so off track here? Ah, well. It happens.
