My Father Cigars La Promesa
It’s safe to say he kept his promise.
Perhaps he thought his El Rey de los Habanos brand would be the vehicle for his success. Perhaps he would have been right. But after he blended up a highly-rated cigar for Tatuaje (Cabinet Tainos), he was off on a new track. He launched his own My Father cigars brand and eventually won Cigar Aficionado Cigar of the Year twice (Le Bijou 1922 and Flor de las Antillas).
And so here we are, back to the original promise. A moment like that deserves its blend.
Don Pepin Garcia’s signature is Nicaraguan blends that bring out the best of classic flavor notes while adding something hard to describe. When you light up a My Father La Promesa cigar, it’s right there, just like with these fantastic blends. Balance, flavor, artfulness… his cigars are constructed and blended, so they’re quite clearly in a class unto themselves. They’re like Padrons or Fuentes in that your expectations will be sky-high, and they’ll still be met (and sometimes even exceeded).
My Father La Promesa cigars feature a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers with an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper over the top. From the first puff, you’re treated to a festival of flavors, including citrus fruits, sourdough bread, and even hints of vanilla. That cedary profile is there, but there’s so much going on, and it’s all in perfect harmony. The cigar is an incredibly pleasant and enjoyable experience that will have you reminding yourself over and over to take it slow so as not to overheat the tobacco.
Take your time. Enjoy. This was a promise made to be kept.
