There's no question that maduro cigars have been having a bit of a moment over the past – well, decades. It turns out that while we liked small and mild cigars back in the '90s, the new millennium means big ring sizes, maduro wrappers, and spicy Nicaraguan tobaccos.
Some brands have made their whole reputation on maduro cigars. Others make their living swimming upstream, reviving older styles and exploring the nuances of natural wrappers. Alec Bradley does both. Their most famous cigars, including the Cigar of the Year for 2011 the Alec Bradley Prensado, feature natural wrappers and modest ring-gauges. But some Alec Bradley maduro cigars are best sellers and cigars that rival any other brand for size.
Take, for example, the OG giant maduro cigar: the Alec Bradley MAXX. Alec Bradley has been selling these huge cigars, including the 8.5x60 Superfreak, since the early oughts. MAXX Alec Bradley maduro cigars are as smooth and rich as any maduro fan could hope with sweet wood, full bodied cocoa, and lingering spice.
There’s also the more traditional Alec Bradley maduro cigars like the Alec Bradley Magic Toast. A pretty recent release, the Alec Bradley Magic Toast features an impossibly dark Honduran maduro wrapper for a savory-sweet treat. Seared steak, beef jerky, barbecue sauce, black pepper, citrus, and a slight floral note make for a complex and rewarding smoke.
Finally, check out the classic Alec Bradley Maduro cigar: the Alec Bradley Tempus maduro. Gone is the original trojes wrapper, replaced by the only San Andrés wrapper in the Alec Bradley lineup. The Mexican wrapper delivers big time maduro flavors of coffee, cocoa, dark cedar, roasted nuts, and a touch of chili pepper. It's a welcome twist on an Alec Bradley fan favorite and probably the best out of the Alec Bradley maduro cigars released so far.
