Arturo Fuente Opus X Angel's Share Fuente Fuente Description
This Arturo Fuente Opus X Angel's Share Fuente Fuente cigar is made in Dominican Republic. Outside, you'll find a Dominican Chateau de la Fuente Sun Grown wrapper. Inside, the binder is Dominican, and the filler is Dominican. This is a Corona cigar with a length of 5.60 and a ring gauge of 46.
The bad news
The “angels” smoked up Arturo Fuente’s 100th anniversary leaves. That is, a 2012 factory fire consumed bales of tobacco that had been aging for decades, laying ruin to Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr.’s plans to release an outstandingly special cigar to mark the company’s centennial. Much like the “angel’s share” of alcohol that evaporates from aging barrels when making wine or spirits, this tobacco had vanished into the air.
The good news
The consumption of the 100th anniversary cigar leaves inspired Carlito to create this special OpusX blend. OpusX Angel’s Share uses a different wrapper than the usual line, taken from select primings (or leaves) at the middle of the tobacco plant, which he calls the “heart” of the plant.
We’re glad he was able to take those lemons and make a fine lemonade from them!
This blend is on the sweeter, woody side, when compared to the traditionally more potent OpusX flavor profile. It many ways, it’s a gentler take on the company’s 2005 Cigar of the Year-winning stick. While the world has been chasing after the world-class OpusX core line of smokes ever since it first released, Angel’s Share has followed right behind, earning 90+ ratings and delighting Fuente fans with its twist on one of the most popular blends in the world.
While many sticks take a walk on the wild side and evoke dark imagery, this one reminds us that a fine smoke is a sublime gift. Enjoy it with eyes cast upward.
