A Rare Harvest. An Extraordinary Vintage. A New Chapter in the Oliva Legacy.

Some cigars are made to celebrate a milestone. Others are born from a moment in nature that may never happen again. The 2026 Oliva Serie V Melanio Perfecto Limited Edition, officially known as the Serie V Melanio Edición Año 2026, celebrates an exceptional tobacco harvest in Nicaragua's legendary Jalapa Valley, bringing together remarkable growing conditions, generations of Oliva family expertise, and one of the most distinctive Perfecto shapes in the Melanio collection.

For 2026, Oliva introduces a beautifully crafted, round Perfecto that departs from the familiar box-pressed format of the original Serie V Melanio. The result is an exciting new expression of a cigar family that earned Cigar Aficionado's highest honor.

The 2026 Edition: When Nature Creates Something Exceptional

The story of this year's limited edition begins in the fertile tobacco fields of Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley, where the Oliva family has cultivated some of its most prized tobacco.

During the 2023 and 2024 growing seasons, the region experienced unusual weather patterns, including reduced rainfall and historically high temperatures. These exceptional conditions produced tobacco that Oliva identified as particularly promising, inspiring a special release built around the character of those harvests.

Drawing a comparison to the grand cru tradition of fine wine, Oliva created the 2026 Serie V Melanio Edición Año Perfecto to celebrate the relationship between extraordinary agricultural conditions and the expertise of master cigar makers.

This isn't simply another size added to the Melanio portfolio. It's a limited annual release with a distinct story, a carefully selected tobacco vintage, and a format designed to showcase the blend in a new way.

An Ecuadorian Sumatra Wrapper Meets Exceptional Nicaraguan Tobacco

Handcrafted in Nicaragua, the 2026 Oliva Serie V Melanio Perfecto Limited Edition features a beautifully textured Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a carefully selected Nicaraguan binder, and aged Nicaraguan filler tobacco, including prized leaves from the Jalapa Valley.

Measuring 5.75 inches with a 54-ring gauge, its elegant Perfecto shape features a tapered head and foot with a rounded body, a striking departure from the traditional box-pressed Melanio presentation.

The medium-to-full-strength blend promises the rich, sophisticated character that has made Serie V Melanio one of the most respected names in premium cigars.

Expect an intriguing progression of leather, roasted coffee, cedar, toasted nuts, warm baking spices, and subtle caramel-like sweetness. The Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper contributes aromatic complexity, while the carefully selected Nicaraguan tobaccos provide depth, richness, and balance.

The tapered Perfecto construction also creates an opportunity to experience the blend's character as the burn moves through its changing proportions.

Honoring Melanio Oliva and Generations of Tobacco-Growing Excellence

The Oliva family's relationship with tobacco began in the late 1800s, when Melanio Oliva cultivated cigar tobacco in Cuba's renowned Pinar del Río region. His dedication established a family tradition that would eventually flourish in Nicaragua, where the Oliva name became synonymous with premium tobacco and exceptional cigars.

Introduced in 2012, the original Serie V Melanio was created to honor that heritage. Its carefully fermented Nicaraguan ligero tobaccos and Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper helped establish the blend as one of the defining premium cigars of its generation.

The 2026 Oliva Serie V Melanio Perfecto continues that legacy while celebrating something particularly meaningful to a family of tobacco growers: the extraordinary influence of nature on the quality of the harvest.

From Cigar Aficionado's No. 1 Cigar of the Year to the 2026 Perfecto

The Serie V Melanio collection holds a prestigious place in modern cigar history.

In 2014, Cigar Aficionado named the Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado its No. 1 Cigar of the Year, awarding it an exceptional 96-point rating. The same Figurado subsequently received 95-point ratings in 2021 and 2023, reinforcing the remarkable reputation of the Melanio blend.

These awards were earned by the original Serie V Melanio Figurado, not the 2026 limited edition. They nevertheless demonstrate the standard of craftsmanship and tobacco quality behind the celebrated Melanio family.

The 2026 release carries that award-winning heritage into a new Perfecto format inspired by a particularly memorable Nicaraguan growing period.

Limited Edition 2026: A Distinctive 10-Cigar Collector's Presentation

Presented in an elegant 10-count wooden box, the Oliva Serie V Melanio Edición Año 2026 Perfecto Round is distinguished by its special 2026 packaging and a striking red-and-gold foot band identifying the release year.

The annual-edition presentation makes this cigar particularly appealing to Oliva collectors, longtime Serie V Melanio enthusiasts, and smokers who appreciate distinctive tobacco vintages.

With its special harvest story, new rounded Perfecto format, and limited-edition identity, the 2026 Melanio offers a compelling reason to explore the blend beyond its regular-production sizes.
