Xikar cutters are high-quality, well-made cutters that outlast cheap ones and get the job done cleanly every time. The cigar market definitely has some inexpensive cutters out there, which could be fine for your budget, but if you want something you can rely on, Xikar cutters are a decent choice. They come with a warranty against defects, so if they were made wrong, Xikar will repair or replace it.
There are a few different designs of Xikar cutters that we carry – the company offers lots of types of cutters.
The most basic Xikar cutters are the guillotine cutters we all know and love (for example, the X8). You put your thumb and forefinger into the holes and then separate the blades. Place your cigar’s head up to the desired depth and then close your fingers to bring together the blades and remove the tip of your cigar to open it up for drawing smoke.
Xikar offers alternative designs for guillotine cutters that are circle-shaped as well, with a cutting top that you can pull out and then press down on to get the same effect (e.g. the Enso). In addition, we’ve seen teardrop-shaped X12 cutters that have a butterfly blade design (blades each come out from the sides and can be pressed back together to make your cut.
Xikar also has v-cut cutters for those who don’t like to chop an entire section of cigar off of the head. These are operated in much the same way, but instead of removing the dome of your cigar, they cut out a v-shaped channel for you to draw through. Which of these Xikar cutters you use really comes down to personal preference.
Is that not enough? What about cigar scissors? Some folks just love that classic arts and crafts action and for you, we’ve got Xikar cutters that have rounded scissor blades to help you properly cut through your cigar.
Those cigars aren’t going to cut themselves. Grab a tool made by some of the best accessory makers in the business to get the job done right every time.
