As the story goes, Drew Estate's Liga Privada line was getting all smoked up by the rollers on the floor at La Gran Fabrica in Estelí, Nicaragua. Someone had to put a stop to things. But as we all know, cigar lovers won't just put down a stick cold turkey. You've got to replace it with something delicious to ease the transition. The team went to Drew Estate’s master blender, Willy Herrera, and begged him to save the No. 9 stash by creating a blend that would satisfy the rollers mad puffing habit. And because Drew Estate believes that, "The heart of the company is the production floor and factory," he brought the rollers in to help him out.
The Drew Estate Undercrown line was born.
Drew Estate Undercrown Shade is the second installment in the Undercrown line, and it's got a bit of a stealth origin. This is the first smoke created by Willy Herrera that was not issued under the Herrera Estelí brand. The components travel the world: a mellow Ecuadoran Connecticut wrapper, a rich Sumatran binder, and a flavorful heart made of Dominican criollo 98’ and Nicaraguan corojo and criollo long-fillers. The result is a mellow smoke - flavorful - but good when you need a break from strong smokes. Balanced, with subtle notes of nuts and cream, this is a relaxing smoke to round out any humidor.
