Black Label Trading Co. La Madonna Negra
Anyone who has built a business knows how hard it is to get over initial humps. Getting the courage and funding to kick off a brand… building it up to be sustainable and profitable… and meeting the challenges that growth brings over the first years of operations – it all requires passion, dedication, an ability to tirelessly grind out drudge work of every kind, and a commitment to finding solutions, no matter what arises.
As Mr. Brown explains, “La Madonna Negra is a culmination of things I’ve learned over the last decade of cigar making. It’s a cigar that not only represents Black Label but also represents who I am today as a cigar maker.”
He’s celebrating with a rich, flavorful blend, and we’re here with lighters at the ready.
The 10th-anniversary blend features the “Black Madonna,” a style of Our Lady seen in many devotional sites across Europe and now the world. Darkness is ever the theme for this brand, and we always look forward to the earthy Maduro wrappers they source for their hardcore stogies.
This one takes a hearty Connecticut broadleaf to be its bride, along with a spicy Ecuadorian habano binder, and a long-filler combo of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian tobacco. The smoke is “bold, as a BLTC cigar should be but, it’s also very refined and elegant. It has layers of complexity and a very unique profile.”
It’s described as spicy, with aromatic florals that help it stand out in the crowd.
