The Baccarat brand was first established in 1871 by H. Upmann’s brother, Carl Upmann. The brand would enjoy success and change hands a few times before finding its way to Fumas Tobacco in 1989, where Julio Eiroa revived it under the Caribe name. Baccarat did well, and soon the Eiroa family partnered with Sal Fontana, who took over production for the brand under Camacho. The core blend became mostly Honduran during this time. Baccarat smokers were immediately taken in by the mellow creamy profile that would become the cigar’s signature.
Baccarat Original cigars use a shimmering Connecticut wrapper to provide the creamy texture. The wrapper has a sweetened cap that adds sweetness to each pull. Beneath the Connecticut leaf is a Mexican binder that holds snug mellow Havana seed tobacco grown in Honduran soils.
The cold draw on one of our Baccarat Original cigars delivers pepper, tobacco, and the expected sweetness from the cap. During the first third, we’re getting gorgeous, lush plumes of smoke and flavors of sweetness, cocoa, leather, and pepper. The second third sees a continuation of these with the leather note cutting through everything. During the final third, we picked up some cedar. Besides that, things remained consistent and balanced throughout this mild number.
Baccarat Original cigars are among the top-selling cigars in the industry today. With such an affordable price and a strong, multi-generational following, it’s not hard to see why.
Please enjoy Baccarat Original cigars at your leisure.
