Great Cigar T-Shirts

One of the fun things about attending large cigar gatherings, besides enjoying fantastic cigars and catching up with friends, is reading some of the great cigar-themed t-shirts people are wearing. Some of the coolest are reproductions of cigar labels and cigar box art from the golden age of cigar art. We also see some awesome shirts with logos from Fuente, Camacho, Padrón, Ashton, Cohiba and other brands. Here’s a collection of recent sightings in no particular order. Picture of a big stogie giving off billows of smoke: “I’m Not Smelly…I’m Aromatic” A couple for her: “I’m Aging Like a Fine Cigar” “I Love my Cigar Smoker” From Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book and many other stories and poems: “A woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a smoke” Groucho Marx offered his take on the same thing: “A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke” Not sure what this one means. Got any ideas? “Hamlet: A Play about a Cigar Salesman” One of the longer quotes comes from comedian Ron White: “I’ve got a great cigar collection—it’s actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn’t going to smoke every last one of ‘em” You know those signs along the interstate that show you what’s available at the upcoming exit? We’ve seen a couple good cigar t-shirts using symbols: Symbol #1: Fork and knife Symbol #2: Bed with person in it Symbol #3: A couple of lit stogies How cool would that be? The second t-shirt: Symbol #1: Peace sign Symbol #2: Heart Symbol #3: Stogies There are quite a few t-shirts around for those who are a bit defensive about getting the stink-eye from passersby while they enjoy an aromatic cigar: “Kiss my Ash” “If my cigar smoke bothers you, don’t breathe” As you might expect, Bill Clinton cigar-themed t-shirts were once big. He was president during the cigar boom of the early 90s. Here’s one suitable to print. It shows a smiling Clinton with a large cigar in his mouth with this quote: “Interns are Cool!” Mark Twain smoked 20+ cigars a day, and there are many great stories about him and stogies. His quotes make awesome t-shirts. Not all of these are about cigars, but the ones that aren’t are still relevant today and worth a look These all show Twain’s image in some way. He’s usually holding a cigar: “I have made it a rule never to smoke more than one cigar at a time.” “As an example to others, and not that I care for moderation myself, it has always been my rule never to smoke when asleep, and never to refrain from smoking when awake.” “It could possibly be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native criminal class except Congress.” “Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I’ve done it thousands of times.” Winston Churchill was such a great man and famous cigar smoker that a vitola was named in his honor, and Churchills are among the most popular size. Here’s an interesting quote we saw on a t-shirt recently: “I drink a great deal. I sleep a little, and I smoke cigar after cigar. That is why I am in 200% form.” Winston Churchill Australian newsman Richard Carleton wasn’t quite as renowned a cigar man as Twain or Churchill, but his quote ranks right up there: ” I am sure there are many things better than a good cigar, but right now, I can’t think of what they might be.” This t-shirt has two stick-figure pictures on it. In the first picture, a woman is yelling at some poor guy who probably screwed up and forgot an anniversary or something. The next picture shows the fellow relaxing in an easy chair with a billowing cigar in his hand. The caption had the first word under the first picture and the second word under the next: “Problem…Solved” There are quite a few depicting attractive women. Here are two: ”Smokin’ Girl Smoking” “Smoking Hot Cigar Chick” Here are a few miscellaneous ones we thought you might enjoy: “Only a cigar distinguishes man from the beasts” “Quitting is for cigarette smokers” “I love my smokin’ wife!” “Love is an exploding cigar we willingly smoke” “Life is too short to smoke cheap cigars” “Let’s get naked and smoke cigars” “Got Cigar?” “I like a good cigar and a bad woman” “Will smoke for food” Thomas R. Marshall was vice-president under Woodrow Wilson. A former lawyer in Indiana, he was also governor of the state for a term. During a 1917 senate debate in which long-winded Senator Bristow of Kansas was bloviating about what the country needed, Marshall uttered perhaps the most famous cigar quote of all time. He spoke loud enough for most in the chamber to hear him. “What this country needs is a really good five-cent cigar.” By the way, in 2013 dollars, that nickel cigar would still cost just 88 cents!
