Tatuaje Cohetes Reserva Broadleaf
This Tatuaje Cohetes Reserva Broadleaf cigar is made in Nicaragua. Outside, you'll find a Broadleaf wrapper. Inside, the binder is Nicaraguan, and the filler is Nicaraguan. This is a Petite Robusto cigar with a length of 4.00 and a ring gauge of 50.
Man, when Tatuaje founder Pete Johnson busts out the broadleaf, we come a-running. Tatuaje Cohetes Reserva Broadleaf cigars have got what we need and we’re lining up with lighters out!
This is one of three wrapper offerings in the Cohetes family (the name is Spanish for “rockets”). The other two siblings are the Habano and Ecuador Sumatra – both very flavorful and satisfying. But the Reserva Broadleaf is a different beast.
It comes sporting an eye-catching black and gold band that sets it apart. Longtime fans of Tatuaje cigars will notice the classic brown band that’s stood for the Seleccion de Cazadores blend since the beginning. This was a José “Don Pepin” Garcia concoction that helped Tatuaje get noticed and take a seat at the big boys’ table in the cigar industry.
At its core, there’s a rich blend of Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco. This is the same for each of the Cohetes cigars. Around this goes a nice natural Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. This is a Tatuaje special. This company even created an all-broadleaf cigar for hardcore fans (Casita Criolla). They’ve also had success with La Riqueza and others.
Johnson, a tattooed metal musician, is not the most clean-cut of characters. It makes sense that he has a love for rustic, rough leaves. He’s not overly obsessed with seamless perfection like you might find in say, a Davidoff. Instead, he’ll take things as they come from the creator. Overly manufactured can be a bad thing sometimes, you know? So we get broadleaf with the character from Tatuaje, always.
The company is also obsessed with the genuine real deal from Connecticut. There’s something special about our homegrown stuff. While others experiment with broadleaf, there’s just no substituting this kind of CT tobacco.
This full-strength, full-flavored blend is a must-smoke.
If you want ‘em – get ‘em soon. Johnson says Tatuaje Cohetes goes on hiatus for a few years after the run sells out!
