It is interesting how one sometimes remembers something. In this instance it was re-experiencing this cigar! I first had the pleasure of smoking this in the mid 2000's. I immediately loved the shape, taste and draw of this Macanudo Maduro Vintage 1997 Perfecto. While not complex, it is smooth, mild with a linger on the palate like a great Bourbon and has a rich thick flavorful smoke. The ash stays on the cigar helping with the burn so one does not get the heat when you draw. I smoked one the same day I received it and was not disappointed at all. Just like I remembered it about 14 years ago. While tastes do change over time it seems that some things still are remembered with a fondness and brings one back to the memories and experiences of days past.
