El Septimo Luxus Bullet Blue cigars join siblings Small Sabor Blue and Rebelde Blue to round out the Luxus blue band offerings. While Small Sabor is mild, Rebelde and Bullet both feature medium-full strength, and so are truly for the more experience smokers who are jumping into this exciting product line.

Luxus is a ten-blend series that focuses on tobacco that has been aged extensively. Most blends on the market, even those built to feature mature leaf, simply settle for a few years of aging. After all most of the flavor development has happened by then. But there is still reason to let leaf evolve beyond that point for certain projects. El Septimo doesn’t release the exact details of what tobacco go into Luxus cigars, but the likeliest candidate is Costa Rican leaf. It’s El Septimo’s specialty and the focus of the company in most of its blends. This flavorful product of the earth offers a taste you won’t get with much of the blends on the market today, so Bullet Blue is rare right off the bat.

The shape and size must be noticed. It’s a 3.25 x 56 short version of a “gordito.” Like a few others in the Luxus line (the X-Trem Shot and Small Impact), this cigar aims to offer a good amount of flavor in a short period of time. And unlike Small Sabor Blue, which is a torpedo, Bullet Blue is a straightforward parejo. We’re in nub territory, essentially, and you can fully enjoy a Bullet Blue without clearing your schedule. It’s great for a brief break after lunch before you return to work, if you’re having one of those days where there’s a little extra time and nothing to do in it.

The flavor is very earthy, with notes of nuts and charred meat. This one is not super sophisticated like some of the other smokes in the Luxus line. It’s a manly man blend for people who love something that revels in the darker side of the flavor wheel. El Septimo says that it offers “brief and striking sensations.”
