Some cigars are created to make a statement. Others are created to honor those whose actions speak louder than words. The 2026 E.P. Carrillo Battleborn Warriors Toro Limited Edition carries a powerful message of courage, sacrifice, and service, brought to life through the extraordinary cigar-making talent of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and the Casa Carrillo family.

The Battleborn story began with Lionel H. McKoy, a decorated U.S. Navy veteran who served his country for 20 years, including during the Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm. After joining Casa Carrillo in 2017, McKoy's experiences and dedication to service inspired Ernesto Perez-Carrillo to create a commemorative cigar honoring America's veterans, military personnel, and first responders. Battleborn is more than another limited release; it's a tribute to the individuals who put others before themselves.

Handcrafted in the Dominican Republic, the 2026 E.P. Carrillo Battleborn Toro introduces a distinctive African Cameroon wrapper surrounding dual Dominican and Nicaraguan binders and carefully selected Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Measuring 6.00 inches with a 52-ring gauge, its classic Toro shape delivers a satisfying medium-to-full-strength smoking experience.

The Cameroon wrapper brings an intriguing dimension to the blend, with its characteristic aromatic spice and natural sweetness complementing the deeper character of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. Expect a complex profile suggesting cedar, toasted nuts, earth, warm baking spices, and subtle sweetness, with a rich finish that rewards an unhurried smoke.

A Legacy Built by a Two-Time Cigar of the Year Winner

Few master blenders have influenced the modern premium cigar industry as profoundly as Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. From revitalizing La Gloria Cubana to establishing his own award-winning cigar company, his career represents decades of innovation, dedication, and an uncompromising commitment to tobacco craftsmanship.

That legacy includes some of Cigar Aficionado's highest honors:

• 2018 No. 1 Cigar of the Year: E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic — 96 points.
• 2020 No. 1 Cigar of the Year: E.P. Carrillo Pledge Prequel — 98 points.
• 2014 No. 2 Cigar of the Year: E.P. Carrillo La Historia E-III — 95 points.
• 2023 No. 5 Cigar of the Year: E.P. Carrillo Allegiance Confidant — 95 points.

These prestigious accolades belong to other celebrated E.P. Carrillo blends, but they reflect the extraordinary expertise behind the Battleborn collection.

A Limited Edition Worth Remembering

Created for the 2026 Veterans Day season, Battleborn returns with an entirely new Cameroon-wrapped blend, different from the Connecticut Broadleaf-covered inaugural release.
