The most straightforward option if you’re all out of time is a cigar gift card, which you can get below. You really can’t go wrong with this, and your recipient can then browse our entire store at his/her leisure. If you’re not at all familiar with cigars or your recipient’s taste in cigars, this is just about the most efficient option possible. It saves you from having to guess at what will work, and save your recipient from getting cigars that aren’t what they prefer. Cigars can be a somewhat personal luxury, and each smoker has their preferences. There’s no risk by simply handing over a cigar gift card and letting them get the perfect gift with your name on it.

But what if you want them to open up some cigars on a special day in question? What does our cigar gift guide say about that? Well, we’re so glad you asked! Before we tackle that…

A quick detour: cigar accessories like humidors, lighters, and cutters

If you’re looking for something interesting, a humidor is always a nice option. They’re generally attractive, well made, and are almost always useful to a fan of cigars. Those pesky humidors just keep filling up, which means there’s generally a continuous need for new humidors. Look for ones made with high-quality wood that have a hygrometer inside at the very least so that your recipient knows what the humidity levels are inside. Cigars die if you let them dry out, so humidification is critical.

Lighters and cutters are great choices, too, and you can choose from a number of styles. They’re constantly getting lost and misplaced, and you can never have too many. You need them for the glovebox, tackle box, briefcase, smoke spot, cabin… the list goes on and on. They also can be incredibly beautiful works of art. Many lighters are head-turners and make great statement pieces for the cigar smoker that likes to puff in high style. Focus on a torch lighter that will perform in any wind. Similarly, a quality cutter looks great and can make smoking a lot more enjoyable. Stay away from the super cheap ones and you should be able to find something that performs and looks great.

Do you really like this person? Okay, now we’re talking! Go for cigars that are $10 or above apiece ($15 or $20 would be an outstanding special occasion smoke for most people) and treat them to some super fine smokes.

Now, what kind should you buy? Well, if you look at the top left of the page, you’ll see a drop-down menu under the word “Cigars.” Under “All Cigars,” click “Cigars of the Year,” and you’ll get excellent results if you need premium cigar gift ideas in a hurry. Don’t worry if the year has gone by, cigars often get better with age. This is the best cigar gift guide section by far. There’s really nothing bad there.

“What if I know something about what the person likes?”

If you’re aware of any brand or wrapper preferences, you can feel free to follow those and get something you know your recipient will like. Stay away from the cheaper options for a given cigar maker and you’re sure to come up with something that the person either already likes or hasn’t tried yet but will probably enjoy.

If you only know about a wrapper type (Connecticut, Maduro (the dark ones), Cameroon) that can be helpful. If you aren’t familiar with ratings, stick again to our guideline of about $10 per cigar to ensure that you’re getting quality smoke.

“What if I only know they like stinky cigars?”

You’re probably not alone there. We know that cigars are not everyone’s cup of tea. The problem is, this could be anything as stinkiness is subjective. If we had to guess, they might be a fan of Camachos, the CAO Brazilia, the Puros Indios Viejo, or perhaps a nice “barnyard” Maduro.
