601 has for a long time had a hit in the La Bomba line. It’s strong, flavorful, and delivers a powerful punch that will blast you right out of your seat. So naturally, the Warhead is a perfect fit with the brand. It’s released most years on an annual schedule and occasionally has tweaks to change things up from one batch to the next.

For the La Bomba Warhead VII Churchill cigar, the company used high-quality Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco and rolled the whole stogie up in a rich Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. This thing does numbers, too! It’s no gimmick blend to be puffed and tossed aside. You’re looking at a 92-point smoke that Cigar Aficionado described as “full of cocoa powder and coffee bean with hints of pepper, almond, and oak culminating in a lively espresso finish.” It’s earthy and complex but also has a creamier side that offers notes not unlike a dry spice cake mix. You can definitely take this one to the end and see all it has to offer.

If you thought this was a meathead powerhouse blend, think again! This is one of those warheads carrying technology that MIT engineers created while working for a defense subcontractor that no one has ever heard of. It’s the good stuff – way ahead of what you might be expecting. So don’t take this one at face value. It’s a fantastic smoke, truly.

For those who need the particulars, Warhead VII is a 7.00 x 50 box-pressed Churchill. The famous shark teeth and angry face image were made legendary by the Flying Tigers, an aviation unit fighting in the Pacific Theater during World War II. They painted it right on the nose of their planes and it very likely haunted the nightmares of the enemy.

Rest easy, boys. We’re smoking in freedom and prosperity thanks to you.

This 601 La Bomba Warhead VII Churchill is made in Nicaragua. Outside, you'll find a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Inside, the binder is Nicaraguan, and the filler is Nicaraguan. This is a Churchill cigar with a length of 7.00 and a ring gauge of 50.
