Viaje Double Edge Sword
This has been a great trend in the cigar industry and we’re stoked to see another brand getting in on it. Many cigar guys and gals out there create blends for the market day in and day out. And some are great, while others are not. But something that stays steady is their own private blend – the one they created simply to suit their own tastes. They don’t have to make these to satisfy the preferences of anyone else. They can create exactly what they like with no restrictions.
The thing is, if a cigar maven loves it as Mr. Farkas enjoys it, the chances are others will like it too.
There are some great examples out there of private blends gone public, like Pete Johnson’s Black Label cigars and former Drew Estate President Steve Saka’s legendary Liga Privada No. 9 (which still says that it is blended “exclusivamente para el jefe” – just for the boss). These cigars join the ranks of others that were once just for particular smokers, but which wound up being shared for wide release. Many companies eventually have a release like this, and Farkas’s Viaje Exclusivo Double Edged Sword cigars are fantastic.
The flavors are out of this world with this one. Sweet mocha coffee with a touch of cinnamon makes this blend ridiculously special. It’s very easy to see why Farkas was so into this tobacco and why it just had to make it to the market in the form of the Viaje Exclusivo Double Edged Sword cigar.
It’s all Nicaraguan tobacco, which is normal for Viaje (and about 47 other top cigar companies out there). This puro blend features a classic criollo wrapper and somehow manages to make smoke that’s just exquisite. Not to overhype it, but this is just a different kind of cigar, and it does really well with a bit of humidor aging if you can find the patience.
The shape is a 5 x 52 double torpedo. It’s got a nice weight to it and is expertly rolled, as you might expect of a cigar made for a company owner. The Viaje Exclusivo Double Edged Sword cigar is a beautiful stick that’s a treat to smoke. If you see it in stock, grab one for a special occasion – it’s well worth it.
