Take a walk on the mild side with the San Cristobal Elegancia cigar.
This smoke has a bit of a secret history. It’s made by legendary master blender José “Don Pepin” Garcia, of My Father cigars fame. You know, the two-time Cigar of the Year winner? That guy? This collaboration is between the Garcias and the Levins, who own Ashton. Ashton is well known for its Dominican blends, but when it came time to create some Nicaraguan cigars, they thought it might be a good idea to find a suitable partner to lead the effort.
Boy, did they make a good choice? The two families teamed up to create San Cristobal cigars, and pretty much every stick is worth smoking. Some are even must smokes!
The new company jumped off to an amazing start, with a steady stream of 90+ ratings for the Original blend. As a few carefully-crafted stogies were added to the mix, they were well received, with the Quintessence nearly taking the #1 spot with Cigar Aficionado in 2021.
The Elegancia is a bit of a more subtle blend, often overshadowed by its full-bodied siblings with their layers of complex flavor. But don’t be fooled. This mild-mannered smoke still represents the best of the art of tobacco blending.
This is primarily thanks to the premium filler leaves chosen from select Garcia family farms. These are joined to a lovely golden Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador. Together, these beautifully-blended tobaccos produce a nutty smoke with coffee and white pepper notes. Nothing is too far out of joint. Instead, each flavor fits into the draw of the Elegancia in harmony with the others. It’s precisely what we love from a mild blend – the intensity is turned down, but the intrigue and satisfying smoothness give you everything you want from a relaxing smoke.
It’s 91 points of gentle modern Connecticut flavor – what a peach!

If you’re not going to have it with morning coffee, we’d recommend a nice little IPA with this. Nothing crazy. Perhaps a Flying Dog Easy IPA would be on point.
