The name is going to confuse some people, that’s for sure.
Many cigars feature a rich, spicy leaf known as Mexican San Andrés tobacco. In fact, this cigar has a delicious 11-year aged Mexican San Andrés wrapper. The name of the cigar, however, is the “San Andreas” (with an a), which is the name of the tectonic fault line responsible for earthquakes in California. Presumably, the name of this cigar isn’t a typo, so we’re not really sure what it’s about. We just wanted to clear up a little confusion.
Anyhow, the Rocky Patel Vintage 2006 San Andreas cigar has that famous super-tasty wrapper. If you’re a fan of spicy, chocolatey tobacco, you’ll definitely get what you’re looking for, here, and it isn’t just because of the wrapper. Rocky Patel, that madman, actually threw a Connecticut Broadleaf binder into this stick. Normally, the flavor of Broadleaf is featured as a wrapper, but this time, things have been turned inside out. You’re getting a mixture of two potent leaves in one, plus the Nicaraguan filler blend at the heart of the smoke.
The Vintage series of cigars were key to developing Rocky Patel’s reputation as we know it today. When he started as a silent partner in Indian Tabac, he was unknown to the industry. When he finally rebranded the company as “Rocky Patel” cigars with himself as the central figure, he was still unknown to the smoking public. But after the Vintage 1992 took home a 92 rating from Cigar Aficionado, the world began to take notice. Now, many years later, Rocky is a fixture in the cigar world, and we still enjoy the continuation of the Vintage series and all the fine tobacco blends it has to offer.
