This blend may have come out of nowhere to you, but there’s a name behind it. It’s the name behind Enclave, Last Call, New World, Ramon Allones, San Lotano, Man O’ War, and Diesel cigars.
None other than Abdel J. Fernandez, aka AJ Fernandez, blender extraordinaire.
AJ Fernandez blends are generally made in Estelí, and that’s where you can find Reposado 96 cigars getting rolled up. Mostly, they are made with Nicaraguan tobacco, and there are a few different blends available.
One is the Reposado 96 maduro cigar. These are made from Cuban-seed fillers for the interior blend, and a Mexican San Andrés wrapper leaf. The resulting flavors are earthy, full of cocoa and spice. Fans of dark cigars should definitely give this one a shot.
Another is a more traditional cigar with a Habano wrapper leaf. This one comes out with a pretty interesting flavor profile. We’d describe it as barnyard, wood, herbs, and a bit of spice. This one is for the old-school cigar fans. It’s not a fancy blend but still made with quality Nicaraguan tobacco.
The last Reposado 96 cigar blend is a Connecticut. This is a smooth and creamy Connecticut shade blend that is packed with Nicaraguan tobacco inside. There’s the classic cedar and light spice that make Connecticut's so crave-able.
Many cigar brands out there have tons of stories behind them and lots of material to read about how a blend came to be, but Reposado 96 is fairly humble. These are quality affordable blends grown by skilled farmers and blended up by one of the most popular blenders out there. If you want some decent Nicaraguan cigars to try that won’t break the bank, you’ve got ‘em here.
