Perdomo Fresco Maduro
The Fresco series (also available with a Connecticut or a sun-grown wrapper) is built to deliver maximum value without sacrificing quality too much. Perdomo is a perfect company to create this cigar because they have access to a vast number of farms in Nicaragua and a huge cigarmaking operation in Estelí that lets them produce the quantities needed to make bundle cigars that are still tasty.
Perdomo’s strong reputation was built off of blends like this, which most smokers can access and that we can agree are decent. This isn’t meant to contend with the chart-toppers and the premium blends – this is a day in and day out type of smoke for people who want something way better than gas station ‘gars.
Perdomo Fresco Maduro cigars start with a selection of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-fillers, which then is bound with an Estelí leaf. The wrapper is also Nicaraguan but receives special treatment to make the leaf ferment into an earthy and slightly sweet component to add to the mix. Perdomo describes it as “a medium to full-bodied smoke with naturally sweet flavors and hints of cocoa and coffee on the finish.” It’s just what you’d expect from a Maduro, and it delivers just enough rich flavor to make it satisfying and enjoyable.
Smoking cigars can be an annoying vice. There’s not really a shortage of excellent cigars out there, but there are limits to our cigar budgets. We can’t all have E.P. Carrillo’s Cigar of the Year best every day as we unwind following work. This means there’s a place for bundle cigars like the Perdomo Fresco Maduro, which many can comfortably reach for more or less on the daily without things getting crazy when it comes to the impact on finances.
