Partagas Cifuentes cigars are a tribute to Ramon Cifuentes Toriello, the longtime owner of Partagas. He steered the company through thick and thin over the decades until his passing in 2000. He wasn’t the original founder of Cuba’s Partagas brand – that was Jaime Partagas in 1845. But under his leadership, he maintained an outstanding reputation for quality. He was so respected that when the industry was nationalized during Castro’s revolution, he was asked to lead the whole country’s cigar business.
But he wasn’t that kind of guy.
Instead, he left the island for New York, starting over on his own terms. It wasn’t long before he found his way back into the industry thanks to the Cullman family, owners of Macanudo. He eventually relaunched his Partagas brand from the Dominican Republic, and his rollers have been producing beautiful cigars ever since.
Partagas Cifuentes cigars are Dominican puros, showcasing some of the island’s richest tobacco. The Dominican wrapper is toothy and alluring. As you run your fingers over it, you can hardly wait to get it lit up. Inside, Dominican piloto cubano long-fillers make the blend fragrant and satisfying. It’s rich aged tobacco that almost any cigar lover would enjoy. The profile comes out earthy and sweet, with notes of caramel and a signature Dominican leather flavor. It’s a simple, humble stick to honor one of the industry’s most knowledgeable and hardworking professionals to ever walk a tobacco field.
