It’s a common phrase in addiction recovery: tapping into an UnSuspected Inner Resource. That’s the inspiration for the name of the Jake Wyatt U.S.I.R. cigar. Anyone who has ever had to rely on a higher power might have a sense of what it’s all about – people who’ve been in combat suffered through grave illness, or nearly met their maker when going to the bathroom the Monday morning after a constipated weekend hunting trip know what the JW team is talking about.
(Okay, maybe not that last one.)
Anyhow, the Jake Wyatt U.S.I.R. cigar is built around the Dominican tobacco core that forms the foundation of so many of the company’s initial releases, known affectionately as the “Gourmet Collection.” This rich leaf brings a wealth of sweet, spicy flavors. The filler blend is then joined by a gorgeous saddle brown Habano Rosado wrapper that has a fantastic aroma that’s almost alcoholic. JW calls out notes of amaretto and cream. See if you can find them when you light up!
Like other blends from this new company (launched in 2020), many of the cigars feature artistic accents in the form of strips of contrasting leaf encircling the foot and head. In this case, it's Mexican San Andrés Maduro accents that take the Jake Wyatt U.S.I.R. cigar to the next level. It’s the unsuspected outer resource.
JW has said that there’s some special proprietary aging going on here, which could mean anything. But if you’re looking for a little twist on the JW formula, you’re definitely getting it in the USIR blend. This medium-full-bodied cigar brings all the flavor we need in a relaxing Dominican smoke, with a tasteful hint of pepper to kick things off, thanks to the Maduro strips that light upright in the beginning. It’s another treat from a company that’s on our list of evolving new players to keep an eye on.
