The Cellar Reserve 15 Year cigar was blended up to celebrate Gurkha’s very first stick to be sold in brick and mortar retailers – the original Cellar Reserve. Now, because the celebration cigar was so successful, we can celebrate that, too!
Happy 10th birthday, Cellar Reserve 15 Year!
This one goes off in its own direction. While the original 15-year blend focused on Dominican tobacco, this one is sticking to a more recent trend for this cigar line and showcasing Nicaraguan tobacco, as the Cellar Reserve Platinum did. It’s also not seeking tobacco with greater and greater aging. Maybe they found that there’s a limit to how successfully you can age tobacco?
The Cellar Reserve 15 Year 10th Anniversary features an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and then a Nicaraguan long-filler blend with tobaccos from Jalapa, Condega and Estelí. The smoke comes out with medium-full strength, and a good bit of strong flavor that pulled in a 90 rating from Cigar Aficionado. Draw on one of these and you’ll get dark chocolate, sweet almonds, molasses, and strong oak in the final third. It’s a hearty smoke and a good size in the 6 x 52 Toro.
It wouldn’t be a Gurkha release without a baller humidor to go with it, right? This one is a 50-count humidor with a tasseled key and hygrometer. There were about a thousand of them made and each one is a beauty. If you’re decorating a new office, man cave, or top secret lair, this humidor would undoubtedly bring an elegant and enjoyable touch to your new space.
