Once upon a time, Epic cigars were just a newly-launched brand with two stogies to sell: Corojo and Maduro. Who needs more than that, right?
WE ALL DO!
We love the variety of the modern cigar market. We get colossal gauge spicy fatties with Mexican wrappers, small flavored cigarillos, best-of-the-year blends, and everything in between. And we put it all in our ever-growing humidors.
And so, Epic was not satisfied with just two blends. Soon, there were three. They put together all their creative inspiration, stayed up all night doing hallucinogens, and came up with an off-the-wall name for the new blend:
The Epic Habano cigar.
Boom.
Now, not everything the company does is some legendary effort. In fact, for a company with the name Epic, the cigars are often solid and good but not of mythical importance. It often seems like the “Epic thing” happened when the founder first launched his company. Anyone who has started a business knows it takes massive stones to do that.
The Epic Habano cigar is still quite nice, even if there’s nothing crazy under the wrapper. It does have something unusual going on. Underneath the penny-colored Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is a surprise Cameroon binder holding in Dominican and Nicaraguan long-filler. Those who have smoked Cameroon tobacco know that it brings a distinctive flavor to the mix – woody, dry, and exotic. To this, you can add a more traditional profile of sweet natural tobacco, with notes of cedar and coffee beans.
As for the meaning of the name of the cigar, “Habano” is the word used to describe things from Havana, Cuba. Habano-seed tobacco is used almost universally. The Cubans spent decades cultivating tobacco varietals with a level of agricultural geekiness that few today still appreciate. These guys went deep into tobacco science, so Habano seed leaf is often of fantastic quality right through the time it goes up in smoke. And this cigar puts it to great use.
And that, friends, is Epic.
