Sobremesa, which means “over the table,” does not have an exact English translation. The Dunbarton Sobremesa is the first cigar released by former Drew Estate President and CEO Steve Saka under his own cigar company, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. It’s one hell of a first release, to say the least. The Dunbarton Sobremesa cigar is produced in Estelí at the Joya de Nicaragua factory, but there’s more to it. Rather than the factory producing a cigar from start to finish with no outside input, Saka provides the labels, tobacco, and packaging.

The Dunbarton Sobremesa cigar starts with an Ecuadorian Rosado wrapper. Once hard to find outside of Cuban cigars, this Cuban-seed wrapper has gained in popularity, especially in limited edition blends like the Sobremesa, and is coveted for its great flavor. Beneath the wrapper leaf, we have a Matacapan binder from Mexico cradling long-fillers from four Nicaraguan tobacco types. There is an Estelí hybrid ligero, a Condega Criollo hybrid called C-SG seco, a Pueblo Nuevo Criollo viso, and a Criollo '98 viso. Add to all that some Pennsylvania Broadleaf Ligero, and this thorough blend is ready for showtime.

The flavors of the Dunbarton Sobremesa are strong cedar, baker’s chocolate, sweet spice, and black coffee. It’s not just in the name—this medium to full strength blend is an excellent after-dinner cigar “over the table.”
