Crowned Heads CHC Serie E
Crowned Heads is always talking about the musical inspiration behind their cigars, and they can get pretty crazy with it. For this one, it’s another member of the CHC band, which stands for “Crowned Heads Court.” Any royals must have their court, right?
The first blend that launched the line was the CHC Reserve. It was a bold and spicy Nicaraguan cigar with a potent Mexican San Andrés wrapper. There was plenty of personality in the smoke, and this CHC Serie E is quite lively, too. They’re definitely relatives. Instead of the dark Maduro leaf, though, this one is sporting an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper. The Nicaraguan filler blend comes from farms in Jalapa, the volcanic island of Ometepe, and Pueblo Nuevo.
When you get the Serie E toasted up, you’ll taste oak and a nice peanut note. Continuing along, you’ll be treated to baker’s spice and a touch of citrus on the finish. It’s decently complex and shows that Crowned Heads are serious about trying to create a cigar that delivers on the inspired rockin’ namesakes and inspirations that gave the blenders their starting point.
For the Crowned Heads CHC Serie E, the “E” stands for “Eruption,” the classic Van Halen guitar solo that melted minds back when electric guitar shredding was still something rather new. Seriously. Metal was in its infancy. It’s truly impossible to capture the spirit of that incendiary 1978 track that took rock 'n' roll to a whole new place, but it’s as good as you can get when you want some stimulation to kick off a creative process.
The black and red band design is even taken from one of Eddie Van Halen’s guitars!
For those who were there – or for people who want to know what it sounds like when you get the party started by lighting pure gasoline on fire – get that Van Halen album on and kick back with a stogie and a brew with some friends. Make it original Budweiser or something similar if you want an authentic experience.
