Cavalier Genève founder Sébastien Decoppet has always been about elevating the experience. He’s a pretty interesting fellow who moved to Honduras from Switzerland at 22 to make his tobacco dreams come true. There, alongside collaborator Adin Plasencia (a member of one of the world’s foremost tobacco-growing families), he launched his venture with full confidence. His signature golden foil diamond was applied to the wrapper leaf of each cigar in the early days, showing luxury ambitions. However, this mark is not a part of the Cavalier Genève Inner Circle cigar blend.
We’ve heard that this is because he doesn’t want the golden hallmark to become a gimmicky distraction as he explores his next wave of cigars. His blends are about so much more, as seen from this effort. There’s a ton of leaf brought into the mix here.
The filler blend is wild, combining Dominican Piloto, Nicaraguan Habano grown in Jalapa, Pennsylvania broadleaf, and Honduran broadleaf from Jamastran. And that’s just the long-fillers! The binder is a spicy Habano, as is the Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper.
The Cavalier Genève Inner Circle cigar is a feast!
The result isn’t what you would think. Whether by intention or not, this cigar doesn’t settle into traditional profiles. There are notes of hickory and minerals that call to mind the soil. These are joined by flavors of nuts and seeds, as well as fruity aromatics on the finish that add just a touch of sourness. It’s the blend you reach for when you’re in the mood for something unusual. Not a mainstream smoke by any means. This is a secret backroom stick for only a select group of smokers.
Or, as some might call it, the Inner Circle.

Cavalier Geneve Inner Circle FAQ'S
What are the flavors like?
Hickory, dry minerals, nuts and seeds, sour fruity aromatics.
What’s the strength level?
Who is this cigar for?
Cavalier Genève Inner Circle cigars are for people who want a uniquely dry flavor profile.
Will I want to smoke it to the nub?
You’d have to be a special smoker for that.
What’s a good pairing with it?
We could see something sweet to balance it out, like something from close to the founder’s home. A fruity white like Champalou Vouvray La Cuvée des Fondraux could be good if you can get into a nice cool glass of wine with your smoke.
What’s the best time/place to smoke this cigar?
In a high end smoke lounge, or in your well-appointed study. This feels like an oddly sophisticated smoke to us. Class it up a little.
This probably won’t be a hit for most smokers.
