This cigar is the third installation in the Caldwell The T series. This time, the blend features a beautiful Habano wrapper, and the flavors are classic with a twist. While the original Caldwell The T cigar was an earthy Maduro, The T Habano offers a more traditional take on a Nicaraguan puro. Using choice leaf from AJ Fernandez’s farms, The T Habano cigar creates a flavor profile that brings in cedar and white pepper (as you might expect), but also offers a citrus note that you probably won’t see coming.

Caldwell The T Habano cigars are still a “trillaboration” between Robert Caldwell, Matt Booth of Room101, and AJ Fernandez. While Booth and Caldwell are known for being hot boutique and small run blenders, Fernandez is… also known for being a blending mastermind! But in this case, it’s his tobacco fields and factory that is powering his contribution. Of course, we weren’t in the blending room, so who knows who really did what.

The point is, we’ve got a nice Nicaraguan cigar on our hands.

The Caldwell The T Habano cigar wrapper is sun-grown, by the way. One of the big decisions in tobacco growing is deciding how much sun to give your leaf. Shade-grown leaf offers a bit more balance, not growing to the largest possible size or bringing in the greatest potency. Sun-grown leaf, on the other hand, reaches its maximum potential. It grows large and can offer quite a lot of spice and nicotine. As a result, the Caldwell The T Habano winds up delivering medium-full strength and a hearty flavor profile. We’re not in Maduro territory anymore, folks.
