Caldwell Lost and Found Forever Fresh cigars come out alongside the Pepper Cream Soda Broadleaf blend to form a pair of dark and flavorful smokes made with the help of the Olivas. For generations, the “O-leaf-a” family has grown really nice stuff in Nicaragua. In our opinion, they’ve risen to become one of the premier growing families in the region.
And that’s saying something. There’s an embarrassment of riches when it comes to fantastic tobacco growers in Nicaragua.
Forever Fresh is part of the “new look” of Lost and Found lines. Instead of seeking lost tobacco, founder Robert Caldwell has moved on to building custom blends made just for his company. In future years, there may be more orphaned leaf in storage, but for now, Caldwell is letting some fallow seasons go by.
Sometimes styled as “Forever fresh,” this blend takes a dark Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper to be its bride. It’s one of those fermented-to-perfection cover leaves that you just have to take a deep sniff of when you get it in your hands. Under that is the rich core of habano-seed long-fillers from Estelí, Nicaragua.
The flavor profile is quite similar to the Pepper Cream Soda Broadleaf. You’re getting classic notes like black pepper and cedar, but also some intoxicating earthy and savory flavors from the broadleaf wrapper. Dare we say that Caldwell’s Lost and Found Forever Fresh blend is juicy? That’s not too crazy for a cigar description, is it? We’re going with that. Both of these blends remind us of meat on the grill at times and definitely put us in the mood for a beer or three.
The new Lost and Found lines are headed in a tasty direction, that’s for sure. Take the ride along with them sooner rather than later, because there are only 350 boxes of each Vitola. Limited editions, as always. Darn, you, Robert Caldwell! As soon as we fall in love, you’re on to the next fling!
