This historic Cuban brand has a breath of new life, thanks to Caldwell and Swedish Tobacco Group (STG). Thanks to their vast tobacco library at STG Danlí, which they put at the disposal of Robert Cadwell, some finely aged leaf was sourced and blended into something that is reliably enjoyable.

The team reports that there were two types of tobacco found for the blend, each aged somewhere between 5-8 years. The final blend took on two forms. Both use a Dominican, Honduran, and Nicaraguan core of long-fillers. The Bolivar Cofradia Sumatra (also known as the EMS) then uses Connecticut broadleaf as a binder and a reddish Ecuadorian Sumatra as the wrapper leaf. The sibling blend switches the position of the binder and filler.

This mix of aged tobaccos really doesn’t wind up being too crazy. Instead, the Caldwell Lost and Found Bolivar Cofradia Sumatra is a cigar that is humble and pleasant. Classic pepper and earth, as you might remember from the best Honduran blends of yesteryear, are mainly what this cigar has to offer. There’s also a hint of char that really grounds the flavor profile and makes it right on point for people who go for this type of blend.
