When James Brown and his wife founded Black Label Trading Company in 2013, the goal was to create an edgy cigar brand that pushed boundaries while still using traditional cigar industry production methods. They also wanted each line to tell its own story. This is achieved not just in the smoke itself but also through James's dark, mysterious artwork. Black Label is a premium boutique brand that obsesses over-attention to detail, only releases small batches, and adheres to a "less is more" philosophy.
So it was no surprise when Black Label announced the launch of a second brand, Black Works Studio, which is a boutique within a boutique. Black Works is where James experiments with blends that he considers outside the Black Label arena. One such line is the Black Works Studio Rorschach.
For those not familiar with classic methods of psychoanalysis, the Rorschach test is a psychological test where subjects are shown random inkblots and asked what they see. The idea is that within their answers, something is revealed about the observers’ emotions and personality. The artwork on the Black Works Studio Rorschach band looks like a Rorschach inkblot, which is a fun addition to the stick.
At the core of the Black Works Studio Rorschach is 100% Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Wrapping these up is an Ecuador Habano leaf. This is one strong bugger that will engulf your palate in flavors of spice, pepper, coffee, and earth. Smoke it, and if you’re game, consider what you see in the white clouds as they float away. You might learn a thing or two about yourself!
Please enjoy Black Works Studio Rorschach cigars at your leisure.
