This enchanting stick is a Día de Los Muertos—or Day of the Dead—themed cigar. The Day of the Dead is a multi-day Mexican holiday at the start of November. Similar celebrations take place in Southern Europe and Latin America. Rather than mourn the dead, they are remembered and celebrated through altars at home and elsewhere, decorated gravesites, and parades that can be massive.

It is believed that during this time, the living can spend time with deceased loved ones. For those not in the know, the parades and alters may come across as Halloween-themed or somewhat scary due to the holiday's timing and the fact that everyone has their face painted like a skeleton. But this makeup is applied in honor of those who have crossed over.

In true Black Label Trading Co. style, the OG Santa Muerte line bore a skeleton painted in the theme of the Day of the Dead. While the Black Label Trading Company SM Barrio Santo cigar is similarly themed, the makeup is absent, though what is gained lies within Maduro wrapper, more specifically, an Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper. Underneath this leaf is an Ecuadorian binder. Beneath that is a robust Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Mexican filler blend that powers this grand celebration.
