That’s this cigar. The Avo people wanted to put out something that’s a cut above, and they’ve succeeded fairly well here.
Things look familiar with the Ecuadorian Connecticut sun grown wrapper and Dominican long-fillers. But when you get a peek at how the XO is made, you’ll see that these leaves are cut from a whole different stalk. With six years of aging, this tobacco has had time to mature into a truly special smoke that’s smooth, yet richly complex. The body is mild-to-medium, and the flavors come in with citrus zest, almond, leather, and some metals on the finish. It’s a very different type of cigar from Avo, and one that’s sure to please fans of the brand.
Aging is a funny thing with tobacco. It can take so many steps, and be done at so many stages. Tobacco might age in barns and ferment. It might age in inventory for years. It might even get rolled into a cigar that’s then held back from the market. And once it’s sold, smokers might let it mellow in the ol’ humidor for as much time as they like, checking in every now and then to smoke one and see how things are progressing. We think Avo’s found the right time frame and method for aging these cigars to create something interesting for the premium cigar smoker.
If you’re a fan of Avo, this is a special blend that you’ll want to try for sure. The classic Avo flavors are all grown up, and we’re first in line to enjoy them.
