Avo Uvezian was once a jazz musician – and a successful one that that. Performing in locations around the Middle East, he was eventually sent to New York to study and Julliard and there he stayed. Over time, he was pulled in by cigars and moved into a second act as a master of tobacco.
If you want to be happy, sometimes you have to be willing to change things up and improvise.
Improvisation isn’t random playing. Instead, once you’ve got the scales down and you’re comfortable with your instrument, improvisation lets you compose at the moment, or even get out of your own way and simply blow. There’s a reason they call it “playing” music, and improv lets you finally put down the rigid adherence to sheet music and express whatever is in you at that very moment. Improv is all about right now, and the Avo Improvisation cigar is built around that experience.
You won’t be surprised to hear this, but the Improvisation cigar isn’t the same, from year to year. Each time it’s released, it’s a bit different. There’s no obligation to do things the same. Instead, it’s a series, bringing you something fresh whenever you meet it.
The 2019 Avo Improvisation, for example, is a medium-strength box-pressed cigar with an Ecuador Habano wrapper on the outside, and an interesting mix of Dominican and Peruvian long-fillers inside. Classic flavors of earth and cedar are joined by almond paste and cocoa powder, to keep things interesting. You’ll also see a graphic reminiscent of a broken cigar mold on the secondary band. It’s a nod to Avo himself, who did things his way and the cigar world is a better place for it.
