When you hear, “magnum,” what do you think of? Actually, don’t answer that. Let’s cut to the chase, this is a line of cigars with big sizes but elegant, moderate, balanced flavor. The masterful blending of “Carlito” Fuente has resulted in a stick that brings a wealth of complex flavor without overpowering strength or body.
It’s a different side of Fuente, and the critics have loved it. No surprise there, given the fact that Arturo Fuente smokes are constantly hitting Cigar Aficionado’s Top-25 list. This one has earned several 90+ ratings and has appeared on the list several times.
Arturo Fuente Magnum R Rosado Sungrown, as the name indicates, features a different type of wrapper. While the house of Fuente is known for the innovative rich Dominican wrapper leaf of the OpusX line, this is a departure. Magnum R is wrapped in Ecuadorian Sumatra tobacco like the leaves you’ll find on the Arturo Fuente Sun Grown line. These Rosado wrappers are taken from lower primings (that is, leaves found further down the stalk of the tobacco plant), and so they offer a more moderate level of strength and spice when compared to ligero leaves taken from higher up.
Then, in true Fuente fashion, they were aged ten years. This is an incredibly patient company, which we treasure in these times of everyone on the clock 24/7 trying to rush through project after project. “We will never rush the hands of time” is the Fuente motto, and they seem to keep to it to a decent extent.
The result is a wonderfully flavorful and mature blend that many fans will come back to time and time again. Take care, this stick could be your next cigar addiction!
