AJ Fernandez New World Dorado
But the thing is, AJ’s not just a blender. This Cubano has his farms, too. And that’s what the New World Dorado cigars are all about. AJ is taking us back to one of his quiet corners of Nicaragua, where broad green leaves dip and bounce in the breeze. Where he has a chance to get his tobacco just right – cultivating it to suit his requirements, instead of searching for a suitable product from other growers, he can do everything his way.
When a guy is as knowledgeable and talented as Abdel J. Fernandez, you will want to see what he can make when he goes farm to table.
New World Dorado cigars are made with tobacco entirely from one farm. AJ named it “Dorado” because of the “golden taste and texture” that the leaves there imparted to a blend. This may not be easy to imagine, but lighting up one of these Nicaraguan puros will help you experience what AJ did when he tested the soil's produce there.
The Habano sun-grown wrapper is the showcase leaf here. It brings in plenty of strength and flavor but doesn’t go overboard at any point. It’s a medium smoke with flavors of freshly baked bread with a touch of salt, cedar, and a savory charred note with some sweetness that could be described as Korean barbeque that sat on the grill an extra moment to kiss the fire. This cigar will put you in the mood for eating! It’s a savory treat that is a unique blend you don’t see often. Dorado is the product of one single farm, but the flavors are as rich as one of your favorite “kitchen sink” blends that use 9 kinds of leaf from all over the world.
It’s more focused and perhaps purer.
