Aging Room Core Maduro
For a long time, Nodal has collaborated with José “Jochy” Blanco to produce cigars out of his Tabacalera Palma factory in the Dominican Republic. Not far from Santiago in the northern part of the country, Jochy’s operation represents a third generation in the tobacco business. With that much experience, it’s possible to produce a fine product like the Aging Room Core Maduro cigar.
The filler and binder blend is high-quality Dominican leaf, but the wrapper is something a little different for Nodal. This time, he chose a fermented Nicaraguan Maduro cover leaf, and it adds an interesting character to what would otherwise be a pure Dominican cigar. His goal in blending, he said, was to highlight the flavor of the wrapper, without losing the taste of the filler.
To Nodal, the Maduro sweetness is what’s memorable about this type of cigar, and so you can really savor that note when you smoke the Aging Room Core Maduro cigar. There’s a foundation of hearty cedar, but an unmistakable chocolate sweetness that makes this blend so enjoyable. As you progress through the cigar, you’ll also taste pepper and toasted walnuts, making the smoke somewhat complex. It’s not a super bold profile, but instead is a measured and pleasant example of what Maduro cigars are all about.
