Ace Prime Pichardo Sumatra
Ace Prime Pichardo Sumatra cigars (aka “Clasico” cigars) are so far the finest product of the young company, which was launched in just 2019. Tabacalera Pichardo was making cigars for other brands for most of its history, but thanks to a partnership with entrepreneur and tobacco industry consultant Luciano Meirelles (and retired San Antonio Spurs champion Tiago Splitter), the factory was given a new purpose. Now, a number of Ace Prime cigars are made there, and things appear to be just getting started.
Cigar Aficionado gave the Ace Prime Pichardo Clasico cigar a 93-point rating, and called it “a tasty smoke.” The expert judges enjoyed notes of honey, wood, almond, and graham cracker, hallmarks of the tobaccos used. The wrapper leaf is an Ecuador Sumatra product, while the interior blend is Nicaraguan. The binder is a Habano seed leaf, while the fillers include tobacco from Jalapa, Condega, and Ometepe. So many blenders are putting Nicaraguan leaf to great use, and it always puts a smile on our faces when another skilled blender joins the party.
We’re betting that the high score achieved by this blend will ultimately be the foot in the door Ace Prime needs to crack those elusive Top Cigars of the Year list put out annually by Cigar Aficionado. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere! We’re keeping our eye on these fantastic Ace Prime Pichardo Sumatra cigars and everything else the company makes. They’re probably one more great blend away from taking the leap into the next tier of cigar makers.
