The prelight smells of wood, cedar, and nuttines. The light up sends billows of smoke into the room. This Lonsdale suits my lifestyle. The triple cap is sort of sloppy or lazy but it came off perfectly on the cut. The burn on the #30 is perfect. The smoke fills the room and is very aromatic. In between puffs there is no need to be concerned that if I put it down for a while, I will have to relight it. Thats really cool. This is why the Ashton is such a smart cigar. The Fuentes did a marvelous job at blending these. I get smatterings of coffee, leather and nuttiness. At the half way point I get a tart citrus that tastes like orange peel. Usually accompanied by a tinge of sweet caramel. A dark cocoa replaces the leather on the second half, bringing up the pepper slightly and making the finish longer. The spice and sweet tobacco flavors lead to a strong complexity and a well rounded profile. Thin but long cigars have more flavor than the thicker ring gauged cigars. Or rather, the flavors are not as intense. the take their time to evolve and appreciate. Thats cool too. Many an evening, Im shoving a Churchill in my face and spend the evening with just one cigar. But Im a junkie for that intense, shot to the senses flavor profile that the 44 ring gauge gives me.
