When you combine the sheer artistry and mastery of the tobacco blending of Don Pepin Garcia with the business acumen of the Tatuaje enterprise, something good just has to happen. That “something good” is the La Riqueza line of cigars, the very name meaning wealth.
Don Pepin took the best of the best Cuban-seeded Nicaraguan fillers and bound them together with another select Nicaraguan leaf. In one of his many moments of sheer genius, he then encased these tobaccos with a silky-smooth Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. This is a superb combination, indeed. It is then box pressed to ensure a long, slow, even burn, extending the enjoyment for as long as possible.
With its Cuban and Nicaraguan pedigree, La Riqueza offers the smoker a deep and robust flavor, generously populated with notes of pepper and earth. Medium-bodied, La Riqueza is strong and assertive enough to be reserved for afterdinner smoking. Enjoying it on a full stomach is advised if you want to avoid an overly potent cigar buzz that could keep you up part of the night.
While La Riqueza is not overly aggressive in taste, its very richness and moderate complexity beg for a straightforward glass of Scotch and water on the side.
La Riquezas are available in the more popular sizes and configurations, all for about $9 or less per cigar. They range in size from a 4.4 X 42 No. 5, just right for a stroll around the block, to the more overtly virile 5.50 X 52 No.2 Torpedo that is a good selection for an all-day companion.
