Big on Flavor
The Ashton Classic is a top 5 smoke for me and the first couple Gothics I tried give the Classic a run for its money. Not as much depth, but close. The flavors I encountered included toasted pecans and cedar, with definite sweet highlights. Nice construction; good burn. Draw a tad too easy is my only complaint.
great taster
The flavor is medium, but with some Nicaraguan filler and the Nic binder, it is quite full in the body. I was feeling it at the end. It has a nutty taste, with fresh bread notes and hints of something sweet. It’s delicious, IMO. The Partagas Black Label and the Ashton VSG come to mind.
Anejo Knock-off?
This torpedo is a very solid smoke. The construction is quite good, not flawless. It has some character. The draw is excellent like the entire Black line. The flavor is where this stogie shines. I tasted lots of creamy mocha with hints of cedar and even some tart cherry. Very smooth and long on the finish. I had an Arturo Fuente Anejo recently that could have been out of the same box.
Poor man’s Opus X
The Black Bengal is a favorite of mine. This cigar is beefier and more intense, especially past the band. Stronger notes of leather and spice, with fewer sweet morsels. I still enjoyed it and will put the rest of my sampler in the humidor to see if they mellow. Fans of stronger cigars like the Arturo Fuente Opus X will find a less-expensive alternative.

This cigar is absolutely great for any occasion. During a round of golf, after dinner or just sitting back and relaxing.
