a great short smoke
I tried the Series A about a year ago. A friend had some nicely aged ones. I was knocked out. A beautifully constructed stick that has a nice oily sheen. Its solid! And I love the cedar sheath they come in. I happen to love the taste of cedar and this method of storing them adds to that flavor. During the pre light, I get chocolate and coffee and a sweet tobacco aroma. Upon the first light, my mouth is awash in cocoa and an earthy and nutty flavor. It isnt until the first inch that I can really taste the cedar. I love that taste. The thing I like about the Robusto size is that its perfect for my lifestyle. Its a 45 minute smoke and my life seems to be in 45 minute increments. I also love that I can put the cigar down for 5-10 minutes and it doesnt go out. Polls have shown that the robusto size is the most popular size. Period. I rarely have a chance to sit back and relax and smoke a Churchill. I wish I did but thats the way it is. The final third has an earthy note, with strong cedar notes filling the palate. Espresso and cocoa and sweetness are a constant throughout the smoke. You can go spend $10 on a stick if you can afford it. But this is the working mans cigar. $4 or less per stick and a masterpiece! I enjoy more expensive sticks now and again. And its nice to have a change. A 601 or a Fuente are a treat. But the 5 Vegas line gives me exactly what I want for a price I can afford on a regular basis. For the price of a 601, I can get 3 Series As. So I feel guilty smoking the more expensive smoke. Thinking about the 5 Vegas and when I can smoke one. Thats a ****** way to look at things....not being in the moment, but Im such a fan of the As, that 75% of my humidors are filled with them and other 5 Vegas blends...I really like the Miami. The Miami has to be a treat because the price profile is more than the others. The final 3rd gets a very creamy and I taste the flavors that have built up to that point. The stick is never harsh or bitter which allows me to smoke it to the nub. Every time. Thats really getting your moneys worth. Buy these, put them away for a bit and be surprised with what $4 gets you. Its the perfect cigar for these economic times. I can always squeeze out the dough for another box.
5 Vegas Series A Artisan
This cigar offers a dark, toothy, earthy, spicy flavor with a great draw... perfect for my taste. Burns well, with a long finish. The price is a pleasant surprise for a cigar this tasty.
