I appreciate the depth and quality this cigar offers but can’t see paying the price very often. It’s a wee step up from the Padron X000 series and not much better than the Gran Habano 3 Siglos. It’s a fine cigar, just not worthy of the premium price – if any cigar is.
I was disappointed. The #9 started well and gave off a lot of smoke. So far, so good. Initial flavors are woody with a little bit of spice. A few more draws and nothing changed – not until the last 1/4 when moderate cayenne pepper kicked in. Oh I wish I’d bought that Flor de Oliva toro sampler I was looking at instead!
This Nicaraguan puro is purely delicious and very dynamic in flavor and body. Yes it is hyped, but not without good reason. The flavors burst out with a dose of spice and cedar before mellowing nicely to feature cocoa, rich coffee and a dash of chipotle. There was excellent complexity and progression and I was left lingering over the experience with a bit of cigar buzz to boot.
