Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler

Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler
The Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler lets you enjoy three really good smokes from Drew Estate (with 2 cigars of each kind).

The first is Herrera Esteli, which was the first Drew Estate blend to really get the attention of Cigar Aficionado. Liga Privada was the cigar that really launched Drew Estate itself into a higher tier of companies, but Herrera Esteli was technically the first blend to chart (even though it's sort of a separate brand in many people's minds). It was Cigar Aficionado's #8 cigar of 2014, and with a 94 rating, it was hard to ignore, especially for people who like Cubanesque cigars.

Herrera Esteli Habano, as it is now known, delivers a classic kick of white pepper at the start, then melts into cream and roasted nuts. It's a delicious traditional medium-strength blend built on Nicaraguan long-fillers, a Honduran binder, and an Ecuador Habano wrapper. Creator Willy Herrera actually said he was happy to pair it with a Diet Coke, so don't be afraid to drink whatever the heck you want with this one.

After that in the Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler come two varieties of Undercrowns. You get two cigars each of the Undercrown Maduro and Undercrown Shade.

Undercrown Maduro kicked off the Undercrown line with a blend created by a team of Drew Estate rollers and inspired by Liga Privada No. 9. It uses the same varieties of tobacco but works with different primings and vintages to increase accessibility.

Instead of a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, this one goes darker with Mexican Otapan negro Ultimo Corte leaf. The Connecticut tobacco is inside, found in the Habano binder. The Brazilian leaf is still there too, just in the long-filler blend with the Nicaraguan tobacco.

It tastes like a rich dark coffee, with a hint of sweetness. It's not as complex as Liga Privada but strikes many of the same notes in a more simple manner.

The Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler then finishes off with the Undercrown Shade. This cigar is another Herrera blend, brightened up and made along more traditional lines. Instead of dark leaf, a nice Ecuadorian Connecticut shade leaf adorns this cigar. Inside, there's a flavorful Sumatra binder and a long-filler blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco.

The Undercrown Shade is far from the first Liga but is a fine smoke in its own right. Much Like the Herrera Esteli, the white pepper note leads the way. After that, Undercrown Shade moves into a subtly sweet tea flavor with a touch of creaminess. It's a milder blend that you might reach for when the other two cigars here would be heavier than you want.

Please enjoy the Drew Estate Traditional Ensemble Sampler at your leisure.
