Curivari is a hot boutique brand owned by Andreas Throuvalas, a former European cigar retailer. Throuvalas acquired Curivari in 2010, though there was no U.S. distribution deal at the time. That has since changed, and we couldn’t be more stoked. The mission of Curivari is to create non-Cuban cigars that taste like heritage Cubans. What Curivari does differently than so many cigar makers attempting the same thing is they aim to mirror the taste and look of the heritage brand they are reflecting. Even the bands often look the same.
Curivari creates a lot of brands, and their obsession with quality control is admirable. This is a boutique brand with quality control methods that could rival that of larger companies.
Curivari Buenaventura cigars deliver a small-batch, premium smoke at a price that won’t cut a hole in your pocket. It’s always nice to find a wallet-friendly premium, especially when it was named the No.7 cigar of 2013 by Cigar Aficionado. Curivari Buenaventura cigars have that OG Cuban cigar feel, and the vintage band doesn’t hurt either. These Nicaraguan puros pack long-fillers from Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa. While all Curivari cigars utilize Nicaraguan tobacco, Condega doesn’t always enter the picture, which makes these sticks all the more special.
Buenaventura translates to “good luck” and that’s certainly how we feel whenever we’re lucky enough to secure the ultra-limited Curivari Buenaventura cigars. These medium-strength beauties provide a creamy smoke with notes of graham cracker, nougat, pepper, and cedar.
Please enjoy Curivari Buenaventura cigars at your leisure.
