The original blend took its name from a Kings of Leon song, and was inspired by the desire to stay true to your roots and your people. It earned 91 points from Cigar Aficionado and elevated the line into the limelight.

This gave the founders an idea – what if we brought forward the blend’s sibling?

When company owners Jon Huber and Mike Conder were working with tobacco luminary Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, two final blend choices emerged. One had a habano wrapper, and the other featured a Sumatra. The habano became the cover leaf for the initial blend, but the taste of the Sumatra was never forgotten, and ultimately became the Four Kicks Capa Especial. Now, we’re stretching this long boi out into something truly distinctive for the Limited Edition 2022 Lancero.

This thing is reminiscent of a candy cane – and just in time for the holidays!

The flavors aren’t pepperminty. Instead, they’re nutty, peppery, and dry. It’s very clearly a Nicaraguan blend, but the Ecuador Sumatra wrapper adds a more mature dimension than you might get with other final leaf choices. It has vibrant hot notes on the finish, and is definitely a blend for people who want a cigar that wakes up the palate. It’s not really in the smooth part of town – it’s got a bit of brash personality and won’t apologize for it. And at seven and a half inches long, why should it?
