This Tatuaje Cohetes Capa Especial Sumatra cigar is made in Nicaragua. Outside, you'll find a Sumatra wrapper. Inside, the binder is Nicaraguan, and the filler is Nicaraguan. This is a Petite Robusto cigar with a length of 4.00 and a ring gauge of 50.

This might be the best of a good bunch. The Tatuaje Cohetes Capa Especial Sumatra cigar is part of the re-released Cohetes cigar line. There are two sibling blends, one with a Habano wrapper and the other with a genuine CT broadleaf. The Habano has a classic flavor profile, and the broadleaf is a dank and earthy blend, but this Sumatra is special – lots of complexity.

For people wondering if they’ve heard of this cigar before, you have. Cohetes was a part of Tatuaje’s offerings back when the company was new. Along with Cabinet Tainos, it was one of the early José “Don Pepin” Garcia blends that helped the young company grow. In fact, this re-release still carries the brown band that longtime Tatuaje smokers will recognize. There’s also a white and gold “capa especial” band to mark the new spin on the classic.

Nicaraguan long-filler is the core of the blend, whose name means “rockets” in Spanish. The wrapper is a luscious toothy Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf. Toast it up and you’ll get a medium-strength cigar with loads of flavor, including black pepper, raisin, dark chocolate, and honey. It’s earthy, it’s sweet, and it’s complex. There’s so much going on, you’ll hardly recognize this stogie if you smoked the old one back in the day (we know one of you is out there, somewhere).

And if you’re wondering why re-release something in such a strange new way, the reason is possibly a legal one. The FDA makes it fairly laborious to introduce a new tobacco product and so old ones that predate the 2007 grandfathering date can be revived far more easily. So here’s to the phoenix rising literally from the ash of the old blend. Long live the new Cohetes!

If you want ‘em – get ‘em soon. Johnson says Tatuaje Cohetes goes on hiatus for a few years after the run sells out!

Small cigar, big, very big smoke .

I smoke a variety of Cuban cigars . This small sized cigar doesn’t take a back seat to any of them . Slow burning and good to the last drop . Cigars Direct does an efficient and fast job of getting the goods out .
